A proud aviation community established in 1946
Sackville Flying Club was established at the airfield in 1946 — making us one of the longest-running flying clubs in the region. For nearly eight decades we have been nurturing a love of aviation at this picturesque grass strip in the Bedfordshire countryside.
Our membership is thriving, welcoming and growing — all hands-on aviation enthusiasts who share a passion for flight in all its forms. From first-timers taking their first lesson to experienced pilots with thousands of hours in their logbooks, everyone is made to feel at home at Sackville.
We have a genuine community spirit here. On any given day you'll find members working on their aircraft, helping each other with maintenance, swapping stories over a cup of tea in the clubhouse, or simply watching the aircraft come and go.
Sackville is proud to be home to a wonderfully varied fleet of resident aircraft, including:
Hangarage is available at the airfield for members wishing to keep their aircraft on site. We also have on-site instructors who can provide tuition for a variety of licence types — contact us for details.
Whether you're a visiting pilot, a friend of a member, or simply an aviation enthusiast passing through — you are always welcome at Sackville. Come and see us!
